Ledger app good for
Depois de quase dois anos usando diariamente, posso dizer que é o melhor aplicativo da App Store. Se você gosta/conhece contabilidade e quer ter controle total de todas as suas contas, esse é o applicativo certo.
After almost two years of diary use I can say that this is the best app of App Store. If you like/know accounting and want to control all your accounts with precision, this is the right app!

It seems a bit difficult to getting used to CR-DR system at first, but if you like or want to learn accounting, this app is a nice deal, very simple, natural to use and powerful! A great buy...
Ledger is fast, reliable, and has an excellent user-interface. Since I enter several transactions a day, thats particularly important to me. Noteworthy IMO is the elegant way to split transactions among accounts. I dont need lots of bells and whistles (although I would appreciate multiple currencies), just a program that works *well*. This one does.
Message to the creator: Data Backups and multiple accounts would make this app perfect!
It took me a while to find a double entry accounting app.
I dont understand how people are able to go with all those crappy apps which use categories and stuff… how would I be supposed to keep my finances in order without double entry accounting? Great app! Keep on working on this, please!
Unlike the previous reviewer, Im glad someone decided to develop this. Once you get around the whole debit/credit (left/right) it is very intuitive and easy, much more so than all of the other such apps in the store. It is not repetitive tracking as was suggested, simply your expense accounts are the same as an expense category and you simply record what the money were used for and what the source was, same as any other financial application.
I could see this not being as attractive to most users out there (the ones that wouldnt know why their chequing accounts show credit balances, while from their perspective it is a debit balance), though it is rather easy once you figure it out. However, it would absolutely appeal to business users, and Im certain finance students would find it useful in more than one way. I certainly hope more people would buy into it, so the developer would continue improving it. E.g. Add support for foreign currency accounts to facilitate easy transfers between different currency accounts; Add some features to summarize transactions/accounts within selected period and also add/net balances, no need for fancy charts, just something simple; Restore from a backup is absolutely essential as well.
Last but not least, Im happy to support a Canadian developer.
It dies exactly what the app name says it is...an accounting Ledger. After brushing off the dust on what I learned about accounting years ago, this is simple and very powerful method to track all of your finances by debit or credit category. It is not the same as a "personal finance app" in its user interface - it is based on accounting principles and it gets the job done right. There is also a very good account setup tutorial on the developers website - I recommend watching it before you decide if this application is for you.
Of all the money management apps Ive previewed and read about, this is the best one by far. As an accountant, I appreciate the setup and functionality of the app; it is similar to the programs I use in my job. That being said, you do not need to be an accountant to use this app and reap the benefits of it. This app will allow you to best track your income and expenses to give you the best feel of your financial situation. One improvement I hope to see on future updates is password protection, given the sensitive information stored on the application.
Some bad moments
Not user friendly and tracking method is repetitive. Someone looking for quick intuitive app needs to look elsewhere.
Zero reporting capability, e.g. monthly reports, makes this a pretty useless package. Add some reporting capability in an update, and this could be a good package for accounting geeks.
This program is rather confusing to use due to a fundamental decision by the author: he chooses to use the key terms “credit” and “debit” in a way that is exactly contrary to their commonly understood meanings. He also uses “DR” to denote debit even though he admitted to me that even he doesn’t know what this abbreviation stands for. He is clearly aware that the terminology is confusing, since the program displays a definition of Debit and Credit (as understood by the program) on each transaction screen; obviously this would be unnecessary if the program simply used easily understood and unambiguous terminology, such as “to” and “from” or “plus” and “minus,” but alas, pedantry overcomes common sense in this case.
On the positive side, I havent noticed the program making actual math errors, so it gets two stars for that.
Bought it twice and it doesnt run. It crashes as soon as I open it...
Thanks for the no instruction on the new update! The app does not work! Cant not open it! Deleted the app then reinstall, it works But I have no more data. I did the restore feature. It started to crash again. And because I didnt know I need to create a latest backup. The restore is useless. I have LOST everything!!!!!!!!!
This is the only double entry accounting app in the app store, I really love it. However, no update for few months and the promised features are still missing. There are bugs without fix as well. I hope it will get updated soon.
